What is N2XH Cable?

First, it is important to explain why the cable is named N2XH. Each letter and number in the name represents a specific characteristic. The “N” indicates that the product is manufactured according to the VDE standard, “2X” means it is an XLPE insulated product, and “H” signifies that it has a halogen-free sheath. N2XH cables, made from copper conductors which can be either single or multi-core, feature special synthetic insulation and an outer sheath.

Due to their durability, N2XH cables are commonly used in large projects and locations where the structure is crucial and safety is paramount, rather than in homes. This is because residential electrical installations are not very extensive, and high current draw situations do not typically occur in homes.

N2XH Cable Current Carrying Capacity

N2XH cables, manufactured in compliance with TS HD 604 S1 and TS HD 627 S1 standards, are recommended for use at an operating temperature of 90 degrees Celsius. They have a black outer sheath made of special synthetic material. The copper wires, which can be single or multi-core, are wrapped in a special synthetic material. The conductors inside the cable are encased in a white layer made of special filler material.

The current carrying capacity of N2XH cables varies according to the number of conductors and the material used in their production. In this context, the current carrying capacity ranges from 24 to 940 A. It should be noted that these values are measured at a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius.

N2XH Cable Features & Price List

Examining the features of N2XH cables, it is evident that they are predominantly used in locations where mandatory safety measures are required, such as hospitals, schools, shopping centers, and conference halls, both indoors and outdoors. In such communal living areas, it is very challenging to intervene in a fire and evacuate people from the building. Considering that most fires start from electrical installations, it becomes clear that the superior technical features of the electrical cables used in building structures are crucial.

The cable used in these large facilities must prevent the outbreak and spread of fires, providing a sense of security. The product is highly effective in protecting against the dangers posed by an insufficiently secure installation cable structure. N2XH cable types are classified based on the material used in their manufacture and the number of conductors. It is also essential to correctly determine the number of conductors based on the characteristics of the location where the cable will be used. Due to its flame-retardant and halogen-free structure, it prevents the formation of dense smoke layers during a fire. Even if a fire occurs, the product’s flame-retardant feature allows for the rapid evacuation of the area where it is used.

NHXMH cables, due to their halogen-free structure, are among the types of cables used in communal living areas. With their flame-retardant properties, they help minimize potential loss of life and property during a fire. In any facility or building, the first thing that comes to mind during a fire is the electrical installation. In this context, an effective fire protection system is developed with the use of halogen-free cables that provide fire protection.

Halogens contain elements such as chlorine, bromine, fluorine, or iodine. Since the product is halogen-free, it does not release corrosive and toxic gases into the air during a fire. This feature ensures relative safety in much more dangerous enclosed environment fires, prevents corrosion and deterioration on metallic surfaces, and helps mitigate the incident with fewer losses. Due to their flame-retardant properties, halogen-free cables are commonly used in hotels, airplanes, railways, airport terminal buildings, cinemas, and theaters.

N2XH cables can be found in hardware stores and can also be ordered online. The unit price per meter is reasonably affordable. Purchasing the cable in large rolls can further reduce the unit price per meter.
